"There was a problem connecting to Sage50" Error Message when Enabling the Sage 50 Plugin in Sage Exchange Desktop

"There was a problem connecting to Sage50" error message when enabling the Sage50 plugin in Sage Exchange Desktop

    Description

Why do I get a "There was a problem connecting to Sage50" error when enabling the Sage50 plugin in Sage Exchange Desktop?

    Resolution

"There was a problem connecting to Sage50. Could not load file or assembly 'Sage.Peachtree.API, Version=2013.0.0.819, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=[...]' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

This error typically occurs on machines with Sage50 2013 SR1 installed while enabling the Sage50 plugin in Sage Exchange. It is usually related to the API's registry keys. Please contact Virtual Terminal Support for initial troubleshooting; the situation may require an escalation to Sage50.
