What is a Merchant Location fee for MasterCard?

Description
There is a $1.25 fee on my merchant statement with the description: Merchant Location fee for MasterCard.

Resolution
In September 2016, MasterCard began assessing an annual fee on every Merchant Location (unique Merchant Accounts) accepting MasterCard payments. Paya broke the annual fee into monthly installments of $1.25.

Beginning April 2017, this fee will no longer be applied to Merchant locations that have been identified as Charitable Organizations (Merchant Category Code: 8938) or Religious Organizations (Merchant Category Code: 8661).
